MOTHER’S WARD

Mother’s ward is a photographic lab taken by five different women near my home town.
These women had faced prostitution, rape and abuse and they were taken into the hands of a social organization that provided a house and some assistance to them.
They were all there with their sons and daughters, some of whom were the result of the abrupt episodes above.
Every week we focused on different aspects of becoming and being a mother, together with their hopes and expectations for future relationships and regaining a sense of femininity and power.
The results are pictures taken on their phones or with a polaroid, with little to no assistance during the process. Our goal was to try to provide photographic or written answers to the many questions arising in their every day life.
